Cartoons are a great way to practice your Chinese listening skills, because they’re fun to watch, use pretty simple language and it’s usually easy to figure out what’s going on even if you miss a few lines of dialogue. What’s more, most of the popular cartoons in China are imported from the West or Japan, so you’ll probably already know the characters and the basic plot.
This nciku quiz tests your knowledge of cartoon characters by giving you their Chinese name and letting you choose the matching character in English. As usual, you can see the name’s pinyin pronunciation by hovering your mouse over the question, and you’ll be given the correct answer of each question after you’ve answered it.
Have fun!

It was interesting, actually, it was just a guessing trying to match the pronouncing and the character

I got 10 out of 10 as well, but the MDBG online dictionary/translator functioned brilliantly. LOL

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong way to give in-put to you.. but I’ve followed the site and your blog for a while, and I see you did some traditional stuff already, but are you working on bringing us traditional stroke order? It’d really help for us learning the traditional characters since I really came to your site to learn how to write them. You’d be totally unique in providing this if you ever completed it, so I think it’d bring a lot of people to your site.

@Erik thanks for the suggestion. We’re not working on this at the moment, but we’ll definitely bear it in mind for the future.

@Patrick if you’re a Chinese person studying English, you might find the nciku.cn blog more useful.

I’ve been urging the content of Chinese learning materials to be international and this is a great example of this. How about a quiz about famous Spaniards (Penelope Cruz, Cervantes etc.)

@Michael Lao Gong try youku.com or ku6.com (they’re Chinese sites that are similar to YouTube).
