- What search options does nciku offer?
-
You can search using English, Chinese, Pinyin or by drawing characters with your mouse. Search results can be narrowed by choosing “All results,” “Pinyin results,” “Examples,” or “Idioms” below the search bar; and after you search you can filter your results further by choosing one of the dictionaries: Chinese-English, English-Chinese, Chinese, or English. You also have the option of searching using radical and stroke counts, for users who are accustomed to traditional Chinese dictionaries.

- How does the search engine work?
-
Searching for a Chinese word will take you directly to the dictionary entry for that word, as long as we have exactly one entry for your search term. If we have more than one entry (for example, if you search for a character with multiple pronunciations), or if we have no entries for your search term, you will be taken to a search results page instead. Searching for a pinyin term will do the same, as long as the pinyin doesn’t also match any English words. Searching for an English word will always take you to the search results page.

- From there you can put the words in other lists, delete, or modify them.
